Baramulla, Aug 30: Residents of Katiawali area in Baramulla have raised concerns over the installation of an electricity transformer allegedly without a proper concrete foundation, urging the concerned authorities to inspect the site and address the issue on priority.
According to residents, the transformer has reportedly been placed directly on stones instead of being installed on a properly constructed and stable base. They fear that such an arrangement could pose safety risks to residents and create problems for the durability and stability of the electrical infrastructure.
The residents said electricity infrastructure, particularly transformers, requires proper installation and adequate structural support to ensure safe and reliable operation. They have urged the concerned power authorities to examine whether the installation conforms to prescribed safety and technical standards.
The issue has also raised concerns about the safety of people living in the vicinity, particularly children and other vulnerable residents who may come into close proximity to the transformer.
Residents appealed to the authorities to conduct an immediate technical inspection and, if required, construct an appropriate foundation and secure the transformer to prevent any untoward incident.
They maintained that while improved electricity infrastructure is welcome, such installations must be accompanied by adequate safety measures and proper engineering standards.
The residents have sought timely intervention from the concerned department and requested that the transformer be made structurally secure at the earliest.
