Bla hosts zonal school sports to boost grassroots talent

Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, continues its commitment to promoting grassroots sports culture by organizing inter-school zonal level competitions across the district. In this series of sporting events, zone Sopore and zone Nehalpora successfully conducted selection trials and competitions in Handball and Kho-Kho, respectively. Zone Sopore held the inter-school zonal level Handball competition for Under-14 and Under-17 girls at the scenic Khushal Stadium, Sopore. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 10 schools, as young girls showcased their talent and determination during the selection trials. The competition aimed to shortlist the most promising players for the next level of tournaments, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and team spirit among participants. Simultaneously, zone Nehalpora organized the inter-school zonal level Kho-Kho Competition for Under-17 Boys at Higher Secondary School Nehalpora. The event drew around 50 students from various government and private schools of the zone. These competitions are an essential part of the department’s vision to build a robust sporting ecosystem in schools by identifying talent at the grassroots and promoting fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship among youth.
