
Budgam, Feb 10: The District Administration Budgam organised a day-long awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at the Indoor Sports Stadium to combat substance abuse.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, presiding as chief guest, highlighted the devastating impact of drug addiction on health, families, and society, stressing that the fight against drugs requires a collective effort from parents, educators, community leaders, healthcare workers, and youth. “A drug-free youth is the cornerstone of a progressive society,” he said.
Brighter Kashmir Multimedia Head Shugfuta Rashid was felicitated by District Information Officer Iram Khan for her outstanding media coverage in promoting drug awareness in Kashmir.
The programme included informative sessions by medical experts, awareness films, and cultural performances, including a skit on the dangers of addiction. A key highlight was the mass pledge-taking ceremony, where participants vowed to remain drug-free and spread awareness in their communities.
Officers from Social Welfare, Education, Health, ICDS, de-addiction centres, students, civil society members, and media personnel actively participated. The District Administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening awareness campaigns, prevention, and rehabilitation services to achieve a drug-free Budgam.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and awards to contributors to the cause.
