Bandipora Residents Protest Smart Meter Installation

Bandipora, Feb 12: Residents of Naninara locality in Sumbal town protested against the installation of smart electricity meters by the Power Development Department.

Protesters, mainly daily-wage earners and fishermen, claimed the area’s economically backward status would make the additional financial burden unbearable. They demanded that the government exempt Naninara from the smart meter rollout, citing the socio-economic vulnerability of its inhabitants.
