Dimapur, Oct 22: Assam Rifles conducted a training programme under the Organic Honey Mission in Dimapur and Chumoukedima districts of Nagaland from October 16 to 21, aimed at empowering local youth through scientific beekeeping, organic honey production and skill development.
The initiative focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to explore beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood and self-employment opportunity.
The programme highlighted the importance of adopting scientific methods in apiculture to improve honey production, maintain quality and promote environmentally sustainable practices. It also sought to encourage young people to consider entrepreneurship and develop income-generating activities through honey production.
Beekeeping offers significant potential for small-scale enterprises, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, where it can supplement household incomes and create opportunities for local entrepreneurship. Training in modern techniques can help participants establish and manage their own ventures while contributing to the growth of the local economy.
Through the Organic Honey Mission, Assam Rifles continues to support community-oriented initiatives that promote skill development, economic self-reliance and constructive engagement among young people.
The six-day programme reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to youth empowerment and socio-economic development in Nagaland, encouraging participants to turn their newly acquired skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities.
