
Kakching, June 18: Assam Rifles felicitated Master Kshetrimayum Langamba Singh, a promising ultra-marathon runner from Sugnu in Kakching district, Manipur, at Kakching Garrison on 17 June 2026, in recognition of his sporting achievements and endurance running excellence.
During the felicitation, Assam Rifles also extended training support and dietary assistance to help the young athlete further develop his capabilities and prepare for upcoming national-level endurance events. Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening grassroots sporting talent and encouraging youth participation in athletics from the region.
Langamba Singh has emerged as a notable name in ultra-distance running after securing first place in the 100-km Dudhsagar Ultra Trail Marathon in Goa. He has also delivered strong performances at the India Ultra Marathon Club event in Manipur in 2025, earning recognition for his stamina, discipline, and consistency in endurance sports.
Officials noted that the support provided by Assam Rifles will play a key role in his preparation for the Surya Spiti Marathon 2026 in Himachal Pradesh, one of the most challenging high-altitude endurance events in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives highlighted that such initiatives are part of Assam Rifles’ broader commitment to community engagement, youth empowerment, and promoting sports as a means of discipline, resilience, and nation-building in the Northeast region.
