Kakching, Sep 21: Assam Rifles conducted a two-day medical screening programme for Agniveer aspirants at Kakching and Phundrei in Manipur on September 19 and 20, 2026, with 93 candidates undergoing health and fitness assessments.
The programme was aimed at helping prospective Agniveers assess their medical fitness and better understand the health requirements associated with military service.
During the screening, candidates underwent health and fitness assessments conducted by medical personnel. The initiative also provided aspirants with practical guidance on maintaining physical fitness and adopting healthy lifestyle practices while preparing for recruitment.
Special emphasis was placed on nutrition, personal hygiene and healthy daily routines. Candidates were advised on the importance of balanced nutrition, adequate rest, regular physical activity and maintaining good personal hygiene as part of their preparation.
The medical screening also offered aspirants an opportunity to understand areas requiring attention before appearing for the formal recruitment process. Such early guidance can help candidates make informed efforts to improve their overall health and fitness.
The programme reflects the Assam Rifles’ continued engagement with youth and prospective recruits in the region. Beyond the screening exercise, such initiatives provide young people with access to professional health guidance and encourage greater awareness about fitness and well-being.
Agniveer recruitment requires candidates to meet prescribed medical and physical standards. For aspirants from remote and rural areas, preliminary health-awareness initiatives can provide useful guidance on maintaining the fitness levels required for military service.
The participation of 93 candidates from Kakching and Phundrei underscored the interest among local youth in pursuing a career through the Agniveer recruitment scheme.
The Assam Rifles has regularly undertaken community-oriented initiatives in the Northeast, including programmes focused on healthcare, youth engagement, education and assistance to local communities.
The two-day programme concluded with candidates receiving guidance aimed at helping them maintain better health and fitness as they continue their preparation for the recruitment process.
The initiative thus combined medical screening with health awareness, reinforcing the importance of fitness, nutrition and disciplined lifestyles among youth aspiring to join the armed forces.
