
Chandel April 17: Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive yoga session for over 80 students and residents at Joupi and nearby border villages in Chandel district as part of the run-up to International Yoga Day 2026.
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, including students, who engaged in guided yoga practices and meditation techniques aimed at improving physical fitness, flexibility, and mental resilience. Trained instructors demonstrated a range of asanas, encouraging participants to adopt yoga as a daily practice for better health and well-being.
Alongside the yoga session, an interactive awareness programme was also conducted, focusing on healthy lifestyle habits and the dangers of drug abuse. Participants were urged to stay away from substance abuse and adopt disciplined routines that contribute to both physical and mental development.
Officials stated that such initiatives are part of Assam Rifles’ broader efforts to promote community well-being in border and remote areas, while also encouraging positive youth engagement and social awareness.
