Imphal, Oct 11: Assam Rifles organised a yoga and relaxation session at Pangaltabi Chingkha in Manipur’s Imphal East district on October 10, bringing together 30 local villagers and Assam Rifles personnel to promote physical fitness, stress management and emotional well-being.
The initiative, organised in connection with World Mental Health Day, aimed to encourage healthy lifestyles, raise awareness about mental wellness and strengthen bonds between security personnel and local communities through shared participation.
The session featured yoga and relaxation activities designed to promote physical health, mental calmness and emotional balance. Participants were encouraged to incorporate wellness practices into their daily routines to manage stress and improve overall quality of life.
Aligned with the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” the programme highlighted the importance of listening to individual experiences, fostering open conversations about mental health and creating supportive environments where people feel comfortable discussing emotional challenges.
The participation of local villagers alongside Assam Rifles personnel provided an opportunity for interaction beyond formal engagements, promoting mutual understanding, trust and a shared commitment to community well-being.
Mental health awareness has gained increasing importance amid the pressures of modern life and demanding professional responsibilities. Initiatives such as yoga and relaxation sessions can help encourage mindfulness, reduce stress and reinforce the importance of maintaining a balance between physical and psychological health.
Through the programme, Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to promoting holistic wellness and strengthening civil-military relations in Manipur. The initiative underscored the role of community-based activities in encouraging healthy habits, supporting emotional well-being and fostering stronger connections between security forces and the people they serve.
