
Serchhip, Oct 4: Assam Rifles conducted a tree plantation drive at Serchhip in Mizoram on October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanti, planting 130 indigenous fruit-bearing saplings in and around the garrison.
The initiative was aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, strengthening ecological balance and enhancing green cover in the area.
The plantation drive focused on indigenous and fruit-bearing species, which are expected to contribute to biodiversity conservation while providing additional ecological benefits to the surrounding environment.
