Chandel, June 1: Assam Rifles today paid rich tributes to Late Naib Subedar Chandra Singh during a solemn ceremony held at Joupi in Chandel district.

The event commemorated the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldier, who laid down his life during a historic expedition to Mount Kanchenjunga in Sikkim on May 31, 1987.
The ceremony was marked by deep reverence and gratitude, as personnel of Assam Rifles honoured his courage, dedication, and selfless service to the nation. Floral tributes were offered and his legacy was remembered with respect by all ranks present.
Officials said that such commemorations serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers in the line of duty, both in operational roles and challenging expeditions that reflect the spirit of adventure and commitment within the armed forces.
