Kohima, July 30: Reaffirming its commitment to preventive healthcare and community welfare, the Assam Rifles organised a Health Awareness Programme on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day at Meluri in Nagaland on July 29.
The awareness initiative was aimed at educating the public about hepatitis, its prevention, early diagnosis, vaccination and the importance of seeking timely medical treatment to reduce the burden of liver-related diseases.
The programme witnessed the participation of 40 attendees, including local residents and Assam Rifles personnel, who were sensitised to the causes, symptoms, modes of transmission and preventive measures associated with different forms of hepatitis.
Medical experts highlighted the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, consuming safe food and drinking water, following healthy lifestyle practices and undergoing regular health check-ups for early detection of the disease. Participants were also informed about the availability and benefits of vaccination against hepatitis and the need for prompt medical consultation in case of suspected symptoms.
Interactive discussions enabled participants to clarify their doubts regarding hepatitis prevention and treatment, while emphasising that awareness and early intervention remain the most effective tools in combating the disease.
The attendees appreciated the initiative, describing it as an important step towards improving public health awareness in the region and encouraging communities to adopt healthier practices.
The programme reflected the Assam Rifles' continued focus on community outreach through healthcare awareness campaigns, medical assistance and humanitarian initiatives aimed at promoting healthier and more informed communities across the Northeast.
