Assam Rifles marks World Autism Awareness Day in Mizoram

Serchhip, Mizoram, April 7: In a meaningful initiative to promote inclusivity and awareness, Assam Rifles organized a World Autism Awareness Programme cum Medical Camp at Shalom Special School, Serchhip, Mizoram. The event was held in observance of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, aiming to foster understanding, acceptance, and support for children with special needs.

The programme featured interactive awareness sessions for students and staff, focusing on empathy, acceptance, and the importance of creating nurturing and inclusive environments for children with autism. Participants were educated on recognizing and supporting the unique needs of these children, highlighting the value of patience, understanding, and social integration.
Complementing the awareness initiative, a medical camp was conducted at the school, providing routine health check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and guidance on hygiene and healthy living practices. A total of 20 students benefitted from the medical camp, receiving personalized attention to their health and well-being.
The initiative reflects Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to community welfare and social responsibility, reinforcing its role not only in safeguarding borders but also in contributing positively to societal development and the upliftment of vulnerable sections of the community.
