Imphal, May 2: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Spearhead Division under Spear Corps, marked Labour Day by engaging with local residents, Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) workers, and porters at forward locations in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, highlighting their contribution to infrastructure development and border area connectivity.
In Sehlon and New Samtal in Chandel district of Manipur, personnel interacted with BRTF workers and local residents, acknowledging their role in maintaining and building crucial road and communication links in difficult terrain. The interactions focused on appreciating their labour and reinforcing the importance of their contribution to regional development and national security infrastructure.
Similarly, at forward locations in Menchuka in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam Rifles organised an interaction with porters, who play a key role in supporting logistical operations in remote and high-altitude areas. Their efforts in ensuring the movement of essential supplies and supporting deployed forces were specially recognised.
The events also served to strengthen civil–military relations, with personnel from Assam Rifles engaging with local communities to express gratitude for their continued cooperation and support in border areas.
Officials stated that such initiatives reflect the force’s commitment not only to operational duties but also to fostering goodwill and mutual respect with local populations and support groups who form an essential part of life in these remote regions.
