Imphal/Longding, Oct 12: In a move to improve public safety and strengthen basic infrastructure in remote border areas, Assam Rifles under Spear Corps distributed and installed solar street lights in parts of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh under its Civic Action Programmes.
In Manipur, troops installed solar street lights in Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts, engaging with village leaders to identify local requirements and address community needs. The initiative aims to improve visibility after dark, facilitate safer movement and strengthen engagement between security forces and local residents.
In Arunachal Pradesh, solar street lights were distributed in Longding district to improve night-time mobility, enhance public safety and support basic infrastructure in remote communities.
The installation of solar-powered lighting is expected to benefit residents by illuminating public spaces and making movement safer during evening and night hours. The use of solar energy also offers a sustainable lighting solution in areas where access to conventional electricity infrastructure may be limited.
During the initiatives, Assam Rifles personnel interacted with local representatives, reinforcing cooperation and mutual trust between security forces and the communities they serve.
The Civic Action Programmes reflect the force's broader efforts to support community welfare alongside its security responsibilities. By addressing essential local needs, such initiatives seek to improve living conditions, promote sustainable development and strengthen people-to-people ties in remote regions.
Through these efforts, Assam Rifles under Spear Corps reaffirmed its commitment to community development and the well-being of residents in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
