Assam Rifles inaugurates futuristic drone training node in Nagaland

September 06, 2025 | BK News Service

Jalukie, Nagaland, Sep 5 : In a significant step towards modernising India’s defence capabilities in the North East, the Assam Rifles has inaugurated a cutting-edge Drone Training Node at Jalukie, Nagaland. This advanced facility is poised to become a hub of unmanned aerial warfare training, aimed at enhancing surveillance, tactical readiness, and rapid response along sensitive border regions.

Equipped with the latest drone simulators, smart classrooms, workshops, and obstacle arenas, the node represents a bold leap into the future of military training. The infrastructure is designed to train personnel in combat drone operations, aerial surveillance, payload delivery, and emergency response mechanisms, making it a key asset in boosting India’s defence posture in the strategically important North East.
Officials stated that the training node will act as a force multiplier for Assam Rifles, particularly in border management, counter-insurgency, and humanitarian operations in rugged terrains where manned patrols are often challenged by difficult accessibility and harsh weather.
“This facility is not just about modern technology; it’s about building operational efficiency, quick mobilisation, and real-time intelligence gathering. Our personnel will now be equipped to respond faster and more effectively to any threats or emergencies,” said a senior Assam Rifles officer at the inauguration ceremony.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s broader push for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) and the integration of indigenous technologies in national defence systems. The node is expected to benefit not only Assam Rifles but also other paramilitary and law enforcement agencies operating in the North East.
Security analysts have lauded the move as a game-changer, stating that in the current security environment, mastery of drone operations is crucial to staying ahead of asymmetric threats and maintaining situational awareness in remote regions.
The Drone Training Node in Jalukie is set to commence its first training cycle later this month, with personnel from multiple units undergoing a structured program on drone deployment, maintenance, navigation systems, and live simulations.
With this development, Assam Rifles continues to lead from the front in adopting advanced technology, reaffirming its motto: “Friends of the Hill People” while safeguarding national borders with renewed capability and vision.
