Kiphire , July 30: Reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement, the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps organised a series of outreach programmes in Nagaland, providing NCC cadets with firsthand exposure to military life while strengthening ties with local communities.
As part of the initiative, the force organised "A Day with Company Commander" for NCC cadets of Zisaji Presidency College at Kiphire. The interactive programme offered students an opportunity to understand the functioning of the Indian Army and explore career prospects in the Armed Forces.
The event featured an impressive display of modern weapons and military equipment, giving cadets an insight into the operational capabilities of the force. Participants also experienced a drone simulator, allowing them to witness the growing role of technology in contemporary military operations.
To promote skill development, the Assam Rifles conducted a practical session on sublimation printing, introducing students to emerging vocational opportunities and encouraging self-employment initiatives alongside academic pursuits.
A detailed presentation on Operation Sindoor highlighted the professionalism, operational preparedness and humanitarian role of the Indian Armed Forces. Cadets were also briefed on the recruitment process, eligibility criteria and career opportunities in the Army, inspiring many to consider joining the defence services.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the NCC cadets, who interacted with Army personnel and gained valuable insights into military discipline, leadership and national service.
In a parallel initiative, the Assam Rifles organised a "Know Your Soldier" lecture at Choklangan Village, aimed at fostering greater understanding between the security forces and local residents.
During the interaction, Army personnel highlighted the Assam Rifles' role in maintaining peace and security, supporting development activities and assisting civil authorities during emergencies. The session also encouraged community participation in nation-building and emphasised the importance of cooperation between civilians and the security forces.
Residents appreciated the initiative, describing it as a meaningful platform for dialogue that helped build trust and strengthen mutual understanding.
The twin programmes reflected the Assam Rifles' continued efforts to engage with youth, promote awareness about career opportunities in the Armed Forces and deepen civil-military relations through constructive community outreach across the region.
