Doda::, 26 July 26: To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and honour the courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication of the nation’s veterans and Veer Naris by Assam Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of 9 Sect RR, organised an Outreach Programme for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Veer Naris.

The programme was aimed at strengthening the enduring bond between the Assam Rifles Battalion and the veteran fraternity while extending welfare support and expressing gratitude to the families of the nation’s brave soldiers. A total of 220 participants, including 4 Veer Naris and 13 widows, attended the programme.
The event commenced with the registration of participants, followed by an inaugural address by the Commandant, Assam Rifles Battalion, who paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris, and reaffirmed the Assam Rifles’ commitment to their welfare.
As a mark of respect and gratitude, the 4 Veer Naris and 13 widows were felicitated by the Commandant, Assam Rifles Battalion, in recognition of their sacrifice and invaluable contribution to the nation. An interactive session with Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris provided an opportunity to discuss their welfare-related concerns, suggestions and expectations.
A Grievance Redressal Cell, managed by the Zila Sainik Board, was established to assist participants with pension, documentation and welfare-related issues. An ECHS Help Desk was also set up to provide information and assistance regarding ECHS membership, Smart Cards, empanelled hospitals, medical reimbursement and other healthcare-related queries.
To facilitate access to essential services, an SBI Counter, a CSD Counter and a Non-CSD Counter were made available at the venue. A comprehensive Medical Camp, conducted by the Medical Officers of Assam Rifles Battalion, provided general health check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, medical consultation, medicines and referral advice where required.
Representatives also provided information on various Government welfare schemes and financial assistance programmes available for Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a community lunch, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the lifelong relationship between the Assam Rifles, its veterans and their families.
The Outreach Programme reflected the enduring ethos of the Assam Rifles in standing shoulder to shoulder with its veterans and Veer Naris, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to their welfare and well-being.
