February 16, 2026 | BK News Service

Shalluk, Feb 15: In a proactive effort to strengthen peace and stability in Manipur, the Assam Rifles convened a series of security coordination meetings with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and village authorities representing the Naga and Kuki communities. The initiative underscores the force’s impartial role in promoting dialogue, trust, and cooperation across sensitive districts of the state.

The meetings, held at Shalluk in Chandel District, brought together representatives from eight Naga CSOs and seven Kuki CSOs. Assam Rifles personnel facilitated open discussions on local security challenges, community concerns, and strategies to maintain peace amid ongoing tensions between the two communities.
Officials emphasised the importance of fostering mutual understanding, resolving misunderstandings, and working collaboratively to prevent conflict. By providing a neutral and structured platform for dialogue, the meetings aimed to enhance confidence-building measures and strengthen community-level coordination with security forces.
Participants appreciated Assam Rifles’ consistent engagement, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring safety, stability, and harmony in border and conflict-sensitive areas. The force reaffirmed its commitment to acting as a catalyst for peace, assisting communities while maintaining strict impartiality in its operations.
Through sustained outreach and dialogue, Assam Rifles continues to reinforce its dual mandate of safeguarding security and promoting social cohesion in the Northeast.
