Peren, June 23: Strengthening its outreach to frontier and remote communities, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps organised a medical camp at Ntu Village in Peren district, Nagaland, providing free healthcare services to residents.
The camp offered free medical consultations, treatment, and essential medicines to villagers, aiming to improve access to primary healthcare in a geographically difficult and underserved region. A total of 91 beneficiaries availed themselves of the services during the camp.
Medical personnel associated with the Assam Rifles examined patients for common ailments, provided basic treatment, and distributed necessary medicines on the spot. The initiative focused on addressing immediate healthcare needs in an area where access to medical facilities is limited due to remoteness and terrain challenges.
Officials said the outreach programme is part of the force’s continued efforts to build strong relations with local communities while contributing to their welfare through humanitarian assistance and civic action initiatives.
The camp was warmly received by the residents of Ntu Village, who expressed appreciation for the effort, noting that such initiatives play a significant role in improving healthcare access in far-flung areas of Nagaland.
The Assam Rifles has been regularly conducting similar welfare activities across the Northeast, focusing on education, healthcare, and community development as part of its broader civic engagement strategy.
