
Mokokchung, , June 23: The Assam Rifles conducted an Outreach Drive for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and their dependents at Mokokchung, reaffirming its commitment to veterans’ welfare and support systems in Nagaland.
The event was chaired by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, and attended by senior Assam Rifles officers along with civil dignitaries. Around 300 ex-servicemen and their family members from across the state participated in the programme.
A total of 32 grievances were received during the drive, out of which 24 were resolved on the spot. The remaining eight cases were forwarded to Headquarters DGAR for further examination and necessary action.
As part of welfare measures, free medical consultation and medicines were provided to 66 beneficiaries. In addition, welfare guidance was extended to 30 ex-servicemen and dependents to help them access available schemes and benefits.
The event also included the felicitation of Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and gallantry awardees. Essential assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, walking sticks, and hearing aids were distributed to needy veterans to improve mobility and quality of life.
Officials said the initiative highlights Assam Rifles’ continued focus on the welfare of its veterans and their families through direct outreach, grievance redressal, and on-ground support services.
