
Dimapur, Feb 25: In a bid to strengthen civil–military relations and support local development, Assam Rifles conducted a Civic Interaction Programme in the remote inter-state border villages of Kendung and Mpai in Peren District, Nagaland, along the Manipur border.
The initiative aimed to engage residents of these far-flung areas in meaningful dialogue on developmental priorities and community welfare. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from village elders, Gaon Burahs, community leaders, women representatives, and youth, reflecting the strong interest of locals in shaping the future of their villages.
During the interactions, Assam Rifles personnel discussed key issues, including the enhancement of agricultural practices, with a focus on promoting coffee cultivation as a sustainable livelihood option. The programme also highlighted the improvement of road infrastructure to enhance connectivity and access to essential services, alongside stressing the importance of education for children in ensuring long-term community development.
The engagement fostered a constructive dialogue between the villagers and the armed forces, allowing Assam Rifles to understand local aspirations while sharing insights and guidance to support socio-economic growth.
