Kakching April 19: Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted a week-long bakery skill development workshop at Kakching from April 13 to 18, 2026, as part of its ongoing community empowerment and livelihood generation initiatives in Manipur.
The training programme focused on equipping participants with practical baking skills, including preparation of bakery products, hygiene standards, packaging techniques, and basic entrepreneurial knowledge required to start small-scale food ventures. Trainees were also introduced to market-oriented practices to help them understand demand, pricing, and sustainable business models.
Officials said the workshop was designed to promote self-reliance among local youth and women by encouraging self-employment opportunities in the bakery and food processing sector. By providing hands-on training, the initiative aimed to help participants gain confidence to establish home-based or community-based enterprises.
The programme also emphasised skill development as a tool for long-term economic stability in the region, aligning with broader efforts to support livelihood generation in Manipur through capacity-building initiatives.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants expressed appreciation for the training, noting that the skills acquired would help them explore income-generating opportunities and contribute to their household economies. Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to conducting similar community-focused programmes in the future to strengthen local entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.
