Imphal,June 23: In a continued effort to promote self-reliance and community empowerment, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps is conducting a range of training and skill development initiatives across Manipur, focusing on youth employment and women’s livelihood generation.
In Kakching and Chandel districts, the force is currently running an exhaustive five-month Agniveer pre-recruitment training programme for 43 local candidates. The initiative aims to prepare aspirants for upcoming recruitment rallies by providing structured physical training, written exam guidance, and overall career orientation to improve their chances of selection in the armed forces.
Officials said the programme is designed to enhance discipline, confidence, and fitness among local youth while opening pathways for stable employment and service in national security roles.
At the same time, in Churachandpur district, a three-month weaving and yarning training programme has successfully concluded, benefitting 15 women participants. The initiative focused on traditional handloom skills, design improvement, and market-oriented production techniques, enabling participants to explore sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The programme is aimed at strengthening financial independence among women and preserving local handicraft traditions while connecting them to broader income-generating avenues.
Community members in the respective districts expressed appreciation for the initiatives, acknowledging the Assam Rifles’ role in providing professional guidance, skill development, and motivational support in remote and sensitive regions of the state.
Officials said such civic action programmes form part of the force’s broader engagement strategy to support development, foster trust, and contribute to long-term socio-economic growth in the region.
