
Imphal, May 2: Assam Rifles carried out a cleanliness drive at Charoi Chakatlong-III village in Noney district, Manipur, on May 1, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental protection and community welfare.
The initiative focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and encouraging villagers to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable practices in their daily lives. Assam Rifles personnel actively participated in the drive, working alongside local residents to clean public spaces and spread messages on hygiene and sanitation.
During the programme, personnel interacted with villagers and highlighted the importance of cleanliness in maintaining better health and preventing disease. The engagement also aimed at fostering long-term behavioural change towards responsible waste management.
Around 11 local residents took part in the initiative, which was well received by the community. Villagers appreciated the effort, noting that such programmes help improve awareness and strengthen cooperation between security forces and local populations.
Officials said the drive reflects Assam Rifles’ continued commitment not only to security duties but also to community development and environmental awareness in remote areas of Manipur.
