Imphal, Sep 29: The Grand Finale of the 3rd DG Assam Rifles Hockey Cup 2026 was held at Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, with Manipur Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla attending as the Chief Guest in the presence of the Director General Assam Rifles and senior military dignitaries.

The tournament concluded with Army XI Red emerging champions in the men’s category after defeating the Corps of Signals in the final. In the women’s category, MEIRAA lifted the championship trophy following a competitive campaign.
The closing ceremony also recognised outstanding individual performances during the tournament. Special honours included the Poornima Konsam Memorial Award for Best Emerging Player, instituted to encourage and recognise promising young hockey talent.
The DG Assam Rifles Hockey Cup has emerged as an important platform for promoting hockey at the grassroots level and providing young players an opportunity to showcase their talent in a competitive environment.
The event brought together players, coaches, sports officials and spectators, highlighting the growing sporting culture in Manipur and the potential of its youth in hockey.
Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, has continued to support sporting activities as part of its broader outreach initiatives, with a focus on nurturing young talent and providing constructive avenues for youth engagement.
The tournament underscored the force’s commitment to promoting grassroots sports and encouraging young people to channel their energy and potential towards sports, discipline and constructive nation-building.
