February 15, 2026 | BK News Service

Cachar, Assam, Feb 14: Troops from the Indian Army’s Spear Corps stationed at Masimpur Military Station played a crucial role in containing a major fire near Arunachal Kalibari village in Cachar district on Saturday. Acting promptly, the Army personnel coordinated with civil authorities to prevent the blaze from spreading and causing extensive damage.

According to officials, the fire broke out in the early hours of the day, rapidly engulfing vegetation and threatening nearby homes and public structures. Recognizing the potential risk to life and property, local authorities immediately sought assistance from the Indian Army.
Responding swiftly, troops deployed water bowsers, fire-fighting trucks, and essential equipment to the site. “The intervention by the Army was critical in controlling the fire within a short span of time. Their coordination with local fire services helped prevent a possible catastrophe,” said a senior official from Cachar district administration.
The operation involved multiple teams working in tandem to douse flames, create firebreaks, and evacuate residents from vulnerable areas. Residents praised the efforts, stating that the timely arrival of the Army prevented significant loss to homes and livelihoods.
In addition to suppressing the fire, the Army personnel assisted in monitoring hotspots to prevent re-ignition and provided logistical support to civil authorities for ongoing relief measures. No casualties were reported, but local authorities have advised villagers to remain alert and take precautionary measures as the dry season continues.
The incident underscores the Indian Army’s critical role in supporting civil administration during emergencies, particularly in regions prone to natural and man-made hazards. Authorities have called for continued vigilance and community cooperation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This swift response reflects the Army’s commitment not only to national security but also to ensuring the safety and well-being of civilians in border and vulnerable areas.
