Army marks National Flag day

Srinagar, July 23: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, celebrated National Flag Day with a series of patriotic and community outreach programmes across Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur, aimed at promoting national pride and awareness about the significance of the Tricolour.

The celebrations included flag-hoisting ceremonies, Flag Code awareness programmes, creative competitions, and cleanliness drives at multiple locations, including Menchuka and Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh, Nihokhu in Nagaland, and Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul in Manipur.
More than 900 students, youth and local residents enthusiastically participated in the events, reflecting a strong sense of patriotism and community spirit.
Officials said the programmes were designed to educate participants about the Flag Code of India, the values embodied by the National Flag, and the importance of respecting national symbols.
Creative competitions encouraged students to express their patriotism through art, essays and other activities, while cleanliness drives reinforced the message of civic responsibility and collective participation in nation-building.
The Indian Army said the initiative sought to inspire young people to uphold the ideals of unity, discipline and selfless service while strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and local communities.
The celebrations concluded with a renewed pledge by participants to honour the National Flag and contribute positively to the nation's progress
