Sigar,Feb 10: The Spear Head Division of the Indian Army, under Spear Corps, launched Mission Krishiveer at Sigar Military Station in East Siang, Arunachal Pradesh, aiming to establish a direct farm-to-force supply chain. The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Oken Tayeng, HMLA of Mebo.
Mission Krishiveer formalises a system where local farmers can supply fresh, high-quality agricultural produce directly to Army units stationed in the region. This approach ensures that troops receive nutritious and timely supplies while creating a reliable market for farmers, boosting rural incomes and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The programme is designed to strengthen civil–military synergy by integrating local communities into defence supply chains. Officials highlighted that the initiative will not only support operational readiness of troops with fresh produce but also empower local farmers through assured procurement and fair pricing.
Army representatives emphasized that such initiatives contribute to regional development, create economic opportunities, and build mutual trust between armed forces and border communities. Mission Krishiveer is expected to expand over time, covering multiple districts in Arunachal Pradesh and potentially serving as a model for similar collaborations across India.
Local farmers participating in the programme expressed optimism, noting that linking their produce directly to Army units reduces intermediaries, increases profitability, and encourages modern farming practices.
Through Mission Krishiveer, the Indian Army continues to reinforce its commitment to supporting border-area communities while ensuring the welfare and operational efficiency of its personnel.
