Guwahati, July 28: The Indian Army has intensified its humanitarian assistance under Operation Jal Rahat, with Red Shield Gunners of the Spear Corps continuing extensive rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo in Assam.

Working in close coordination with the civil administration and local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Army personnel have remained on the ground, rescuing stranded residents and ensuring that essential relief materials reach affected families in inaccessible areas.
Despite challenging conditions caused by widespread flooding, troops have been carrying out round-the-clock operations to provide timely assistance to communities severely impacted by rising waters.
According to the Army, relief efforts have so far resulted in the distribution of more than 19 tonnes of food grains, 2,400 food packets, 26,000 biscuit packets, 13,900 bottles of drinking water, 29,000 litres of potable water, and 4,400 hygiene kits to flood-affected families.
The relief material is aimed at addressing immediate needs, including food security, safe drinking water and sanitation, while helping prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases in the affected regions.
Operation Jal Rahat reflects the Indian Army's continued commitment to supporting civil authorities during natural disasters. Alongside rescue operations, troops are assisting in restoring normalcy by reaching remote villages, providing humanitarian aid and ensuring that vulnerable communities receive timely support.
The Army reaffirmed its resolve to continue relief operations for as long as required, standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Assam during the ongoing flood crisis and contributing to relief, recovery and rehabilitation efforts across the affected districts.
