
Kohima/Guwahati, June 20: Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, Army Commander Eastern Command, visited Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) to review the prevailing security situation and assess operational readiness across North East India.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the current security environment, deployment patterns, and ongoing operations being carried out by Assam Rifles in sensitive areas of the region. The briefing also covered coordination mechanisms with other security forces and measures being taken to maintain peace and stability.
Lt Gen Krishnan appreciated the professionalism, discipline and commitment of Assam Rifles personnel, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining security while simultaneously fostering trust among local communities. He noted that the force has been instrumental in supporting development and ensuring stability in the region.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining high operational preparedness, enhanced vigilance and strong synergy with other security agencies to effectively address evolving security challenges in North East India.
The Army Commander also interacted with senior officers and troops, commending their efforts in counter-insurgency operations, border management and community engagement initiatives.
