Kohima/Imphal, Oct 9: In a major outreach initiative aimed at improving access to healthcare in remote and border areas, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, organised medical and dental camps across Nagaland and Manipur, providing free consultations, medicines and specialised healthcare services to local residents.
In Nagaland, a medical camp was organised at Benreu in Peren district, where medical teams provided free consultations and medicines to residents, helping address healthcare needs in the remote area.
In Manipur, medical outreach drives were conducted in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association across Churachandpur, Chandel and Kamjong districts. The camps benefited more than 1,300 people by providing multidisciplinary medical care and bringing essential health services closer to communities with limited access to healthcare facilities.
The initiatives were aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations, particularly those living in remote and border regions where geographical constraints often make access to medical facilities difficult.
Through these outreach programmes, Assam Rifles sought to promote preventive healthcare, encourage timely medical consultations and strengthen awareness about health and well-being among local residents.
The collaboration with medical professionals also helped extend healthcare services to a wider section of the population, reflecting the importance of coordinated efforts in delivering medical assistance to vulnerable communities.
Such initiatives form part of the security forces’ broader community outreach efforts, which complement their operational responsibilities with humanitarian assistance and public welfare activities.
The medical camps reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to community well-being, grassroots healthcare and nation-building, while strengthening engagement and trust between the security forces and the people of the Northeast.
