
Day 6: 14,402 pilgrims pay obeisance at Holy Cave
SRINAGAR: Authorities said at least 20 Amarnath pilgrims were injured in a road accident in Harnag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
According to reports, two buses bearing registration number UP83AT-7777 and RJ01TA- 35 collided in Harnag on Saturday at around 2:15 pm.
A senior police officer said in the mishap, twenty persons including several women suffered injuries and were immediately evacuated by the locals of the area and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, he said.
“Among the injured, two yatris suffered serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at the health facility”, the official said.
A police officer while sharing the details of the accident said that all the injured pilgrims belong to Rajasthan.
More than 40000 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine in upper Himalayas of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district amid tight security arrangement.
Meanwhile, 14,402 pilgrims pay obeisance at the Holy Cave on the sixth day of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. 14,402 Yatris, who had come from Baltal and Chandanwari routes, paid obeisance at the Holy Cave.
“5,155 Yatris left from Baltal and 6,075 from Pahalgam route for the Holy Cave. Till date, 81,630 Yatris had the darshan of the Shivling at the Holy Cave,” an official spokesperson said in a statement.
