Police have arrested the son of a politician after six years for his alleged involvement in a rape case.

A girl the then 7th class student from Karloop area of Jammu that falls under the jurisdiction of police station Domana Jammu had registered a complaint back in 2015 claiming that she was ‘abducted’ and ‘raped’ at a government quarter in Poonch House Talab Tiloo.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that police swung into action and arrested the rape accused and his associates after the expiry of six years. The victim girl reportedly had knocked at the doors of police station seeking the arrest of the accused.

The accused in question is Abid Gani, the son of senior politician and former Social Welfare Minister Abdul Gani Wakil. Wakil is currently associated with Jammu Kashmir Peoples Conference.

Sources said that after the lodgment of complaint back in 2015, a formal FIR vide number 130/2015 under sections 376/511/354/342/109 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act had been registered at police station Domana in Jammu but no action had been initiated against the accused.

They said the accused and his associates have been rounded up and will be presented before the court of law. (KNT)
