Srinagar/ Gulmarg , July 15: In a move aimed at regulating tourist inflow and improving visitor management, the authorities have introduced new guidelines in Gulmarg, making it mandatory for day tourists without confirmed overnight accommodation to leave the hill resort by 5:00 PM.
The decision has been taken to streamline tourism activities, ease pressure on local infrastructure and ensure better management of accommodation facilities in one of Kashmir's most visited tourist destinations.
Under the new guidelines, only tourists with valid bookings in hotels, guest houses or other registered accommodation facilities will be permitted to stay beyond 5:00 PM. Visitors arriving for sightseeing without overnight reservations will be required to exit the resort before the stipulated time.
Officials said the measure is intended to regulate overcrowding, facilitate smooth traffic movement and strengthen overall security and emergency response mechanisms. The move is also expected to help local authorities monitor tourist movement more effectively while ensuring a better experience for genuine visitors.
Hotel operators and tourism stakeholders have been advised to verify bookings and cooperate with the administration in implementing the new regulations. Security personnel and field officials have also been instructed to ensure compliance at key entry and exit points.
The administration appealed to tourists to plan their visits accordingly and make advance accommodation bookings if they intend to stay overnight in Gulmarg.
Authorities said the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote responsible and sustainable tourism while preserving the fragile ecology and maintaining law and order at the world-famous hill resort.
Tourists have been urged to follow the advisory and cooperate with officials to ensure a safe, orderly and enjoyable tourism season in Gulmarg.
