Srinagar, Sep 16: The government has reviewed ongoing and new projects for disaster management, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction, with focus on migrant accommodation and camp infrastructure.
A meeting jointly chaired by Additional Chief Secretary PW(R&B) Anil Kumar Singh and Principal Secretary DMRR&R Chandraker Bharti was informed that 5,176 of the 6,000 flats approved for PM Package employees at 20 locations across Kashmir have been completed.
Allied works, including lifts, internal roads, drainage and community halls, are also nearing completion at most sites. Officials were directed to complete the remaining works within fixed timelines and hand over completed flats to eligible employees in phases as per government norms.
For migrant camps in Jammu, the government has approved ₹82.45 crore for major repairs and renovation. Tender formalities have been completed and work is expected to begin shortly.
The meeting also directed preparation of a detailed project for upgrading migrant camp schools, health dispensaries, internal roads and parks. Progress on the PoJK Bhawan at Suketar was also reviewed, with directions to complete it within the current financial year.
The DPR for additional migrant flats at Purkhoo is being finalised, while the ₹6.50-crore Multipurpose Community Hall at Jagti has been completed. Tendering is underway for projects worth around ₹20 crore at Purkhoo, Nagrota, Muthi and Jagti.
DPRs are also being prepared for next year’s projects, including e-learning centres, digital libraries, career counselling centres, skill-development facilities, entrepreneurship centres, sports infrastructure and solar power and water-conservation projects in migrant camps.
