
Jammu, Feb 19: The Health & Medical Education Department reported that of 70,000 people involved in substance use in Kashmir, nearly 50,000 are heroin users, mostly via intravenous route. The government is implementing a multi-pronged strategy including awareness campaigns, preventive interventions, enforcement, and expanded treatment facilities. Around 69,000 patients have received rehabilitation services through de-addiction centres in district hospitals, medical colleges, and police-run facilities.
