3rd DGAR hockey cup begins in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 18: The 3rd DGAR Hockey Cup 2026 got underway at Khuman Lampak, Manipur, with the inauguration ceremony marking the start of the 10-day sporting event organised by Assam Rifles.

The tournament is being held from September 18 to 28, bringing together hockey players to compete in a celebration of sporting talent, discipline and team spirit.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by the opening match, setting the stage for a series of competitive fixtures at the Khuman Lampak sports complex.
The DGAR Hockey Cup aims to provide a platform for players to showcase their skills while promoting hockey and encouraging sporting participation among youth in the region.
The tournament also reflects Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to promote sports and youth engagement in Manipur, with hockey serving as a platform to encourage fitness, teamwork and competitive spirit.
The opening event witnessed enthusiasm among players and supporters as the tournament formally commenced. The fixtures through September 28 are expected to provide an opportunity for participating teams to demonstrate their talent and compete at a high level.
