Jammu, Feb 17: The government informed the Assembly that a total of 1,64,665 youths have been trained under various skill development programmes in the last three years.

Replying to a query by MLA Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, the government said the trainings were conducted through the Department of Skill Development under multiple schemes. Key highlights include:
Craft Training Scheme: 32,537 youths
Apprenticeship Training Scheme: 1,710 youths
Government Polytechnics: 9,901 candidates
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana: 1,18,677 youths
Hotel Management and related courses at FCI Jammu: 1,840 candidates
In addition, 1,34,677 skilled workers were upskilled under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, while the Training to Build Entrepreneurship Capacities for Self Employment programme provides three-month skill development training to enhance employability and bridge skill gaps.
The government emphasized that these initiatives aim to empower youth, strengthen employability, and promote self-reliance through structured skill development and entrepreneurship opportunities.
