Bandipora, Sep 21: The J&K Sports Council’s “My Youth My Pride” initiative continued to promote grassroots sports across the Union Territory, with netball competitions in Bandipora providing young athletes opportunities to compete, showcase their talent and develop their sporting potential.
The District Netball Championship was held at the Indoor Sports Hall, Shadipora, Sumbal, with 160 players, 15 officials and around 50 spectators participating and witnessing the competition. The championship offered young netball players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
The activities underline the Government’s continued focus on taking sports beyond major urban centres and into rural, remote and far-flung areas, ensuring that young athletes across every district have access to sporting platforms and facilities.
Through initiatives such as My Youth My Pride, the J&K Sports Council is utilising existing sports infrastructure, including indoor halls, school grounds and district-level facilities, to create regular opportunities for youth participation and talent identification. The initiative aims to strengthen the grassroots sports ecosystem and provide a pathway for budding athletes to progress from local competitions to higher-level sporting platforms
