
Imphal, June 22: Intelligence-based joint operations conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in coordination with state police forces, led to the apprehension of 12 insurgent cadres and the recovery of a weapon, ammunition, illegal documents and other incriminating materials in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
According to defence officials, the operations were carried out between June 14 and June 20 across various hill and valley districts of Manipur and parts of Arunachal Pradesh as part of sustained efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain security in the region.
The coordinated operations were launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement and presence of militant cadres. Security forces conducted searches at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of 12 individuals allegedly linked to different insurgent outfits.
During the operations, security personnel recovered one weapon, ammunition, illegal documents and other stores believed to be associated with militant activities. The recovered materials have been seized for further investigation.
Officials said the operations highlight the close coordination between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and state police forces in addressing security challenges in the Northeast. The joint efforts are aimed at dismantling insurgent networks, preventing extortion and maintaining law and order in sensitive areas.
The apprehended individuals and the recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police authorities for further legal action and investigation.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and said intelligence-based operations against insurgent groups and unlawful activities would continue in coordination with civil administration and police agencies.
