Michael faced huge losses in business until he heard a story which changed his perspective on financial matters.
The story consists of four characters, who run through a maze looking for cheese. The nature of the cheese varied depending on their aim. The motive of the cheese was to nourish them and make them happy.
The characters in the book are :-
• Sniff & Scurry: Mice.
• Hem and Haw: little people (resembling today's people).
he central point of the story is cheese. The meaning of Cheese could be anything that satisfies a person and make him/her happy. For some cheese could be gaining a job, for some social work for some sport etc. In short it varies from person to person. All the four of them were looking for their own cheese in the maze. After sometime they found their cheese in cheese station 'C'. After following the routine daily to visit cheese station C. They became lazy with time and started to make station C as the comfort zone just the same way a human being creates his own comfort zone and prefer to live within its boundaries. It becomes very difficult for a person to come out of his cheese. They became lazy with time. With each day passing, the quantity of cheese was diminishing. They didn't notice that and started taking delight. Sniff and Scurry as usual visited cheese station 'C'. When they entered cheese station C, what they saw is that there was no cheese. Sniff and Scurry, on seeing this, went to find new cheese. Later that same day, Hem and Haw, unaware of decreasing quantity of cheese, entered the cheese station 'C' and they were shocked on finding no cheese. For some days, they followed the same routine of visiting station C with the hope that someone might have put it back. Just the same way we human beings think of achieving good results without hard work. They were discussing about this. Meanwhile Sniff and Scurry found new cheese at station 'N'. Among the little people, Haw went out to find new cheese.Though having the idea to pass through the maze again feared him but he begin to think of all the good things that will come with it and gathered his courage. Haw realized that thing is change and they are never the same again again. He laughed and went to find new cheese. It became clear to Haw that if you don't change you can become extinct. Hey decided if he ever got the chance again he would adopt to change sooner. And he smiled and thought "Better late than never".While looking for new cheese he felt borrowed but he reminded himself that it is better to move than to the in the cheese-less situation. He discovered a lesson that is "Smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old". During his passage through the maze, he feared at times, but he said to himself that "when you move beyond your fear, you feel free".
When it seemed like he had been in the maze forever, his journey or at least this part of his journey ended quickly and happily. Haw saw new cheese at cheese station N. He began to think what made him change! Was it fear of starvation that helped him? Then he laughed and realized that he had started to change as he had learned to laugh at himself. Laugh at one's own folly. He got many lessons during his search for cheese:
• Stop living in the comfort zone as it will lead you to nothing
• Be ready to accept change.
• Don't overanalyze or over complicate things.
• Analyze the happenings around you they will help in adapting to change sooner.
• If you adapt faster, you might not adapt at all.
• Nothing gets better until you change.
• Change is always for better.
•Last but not the least; enjoy change with the hope that there is better future ahead.
