June 25, 2022 | BK News Service

Continuing with its general student interaction programme, the Department of Students' Welfare University of Kashmir on Friday interacted with the varsity's specially-abled students and research scholars.
Dean Students Welfare Prof Aneesa Shafi chaired the interaction session,
where scores of specially-abled students and scholars put forth their concerns and suggestions regarding teaching, research and extension activities.
The interaction session was coordinated by the Disability Resource Centre of the Department of Students' Welfare.
In her introductory remarks, Prof Aneesa said these student interactions are going to be a continuous process to further strength the University's connect with its students.
"We don't want any disconnect between the students and the University administration. The DSW wants to reach out to the student community at their doorsteps to understand their needs and requirements," Prof Aneesa said, adding that all possible efforts are being made to make the University a friendly campus for students and research scholars.
Prof Aneesa said the University, under the directions of Honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan, endeavours to follow an all-inclusive approach to move forward and students form an important component of this endeavour.
She said all concerns and suggestions put forth by the specially-abled students will be taken care of in due course of time, even as she remarked that special focus is being laid by the University administration on further enhancing accessibility of specially-abled students with installation of more ramps and lifts in the departments.
"It is our moral and professional duty and responsibility to address all your genuine concerns. We assure to work in this direction in a mission mode and see to it that the DSW is able to assist you in every possible manner," Prof Aneesa said, seeking active cooperation of the students in continuing to make the University Campus more vibrant.
The DSW was accompanied by her team of officials including Shaheel Mohammad, Coordinator, Disability Resource Centre DSW, who coordinated the event.
