Army , SDRF rescue teams mobilised at Margan pass

On the evening of 23 Feb 22, an information was received that six persons travelling from Anantnag to Warwan on foot through Margan Pass had gone missing. District administration Anantnag and Army authorities immediately came into action and joint rescue operation was launched by the District administration along with a team of Army, SDRF including 12 mountaineers to rescue the hapless civilians. The joint rescue team commenced their opeartion at around 0400hr on 25 Feb from Larnu.

The intrepid members of the team commenced their move towards Margan Pass, negotiating treacherous climb and route thickly covered with snow. A logistic base was also established at Gaoran with communication setup, warm clothings and food by the Larnu Army Camp. The rescue team had almost reached the Margan Pass when an information was received from Inshan that 5-6 persons have been seen coming down from Margan Pass. Immediately the JCO incharge of Inshan Army Camp along with Police and few villagers mobilised from Inshan to receive them and to extend all possible assistance to these civilians. Having confirmed the identity of the civilians, the rescue team from Larnu was recalled. The missing persons who belonged to Choidraman Village of Warwan Valley safely reached their home after spending almost 48 hours in sub zero temperatures at an altitude of 12000 feet.
